 Soroptimist International of Auckland:
.Lifewise Toiletry Pack Support

Soroptimist International Auckland is committed to improving the quality of life for vulnerable members of our community. Over the past several years, the club has consistently supported Lifewise by preparing and donating toiletry and sanitary packs for homeless individuals, focusing especially on women in need throughout Auckland.

A Multi-Year Commitment:

SI Auckland’s dedication to this project is evident through its repeated efforts, which began in 2020. That year, the club prepared 70 toiletry packs for homeless women sleeping rough in the city. Each pack contained essential hygiene items, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, sanitary pads, tampons, and deodorant. The packs were then donated to Lifewise, an organisation that works tirelessly to address homelessness in Auckland, ensuring direct distribution to those in need.

Continuing the Tradition of Support:

The following year, in 2021, SI Auckland continued this important initiative, preparing approximately 50 hygiene packs with similar contents for homeless men and women. This effort not only reinforced their partnership with Lifewise but also promoted the club’s mission of community support and service. Each pack provided dignity and practical assistance to those facing the harsh realities of homelessness.

Strengthening Community Bonds in 2022:

In October 2022, SI Auckland once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to helping the homeless by preparing 61 toiletry and sanitary packs. These packs were assembled during a regional meeting, adding an element of collective service to the event. Members came together to pack items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, and essential sanitary items like tampons and pads.

A representative from Lifewise attended the regional meeting, sharing valuable insights into the organization's work and how these contributions make a difference in the community. Inspired by this collaboration, SI Auckland plans to invite the representative to become an honorary member, recognizing her dedication and fostering stronger ties for future partnerships.

Impact and Recognition:

The ongoing support provided by SI Auckland has been well-received, promoting the club’s core values and inspiring a membership drive. The feedback from Lifewise and the recipients of these hygiene packs has been overwhelmingly positive, underscoring the importance of these efforts in supporting homeless individuals and promoting dignity.

SI Auckland remains committed to making a tangible impact in the community, standing by its vision to support those in need and champion kindness through practical actions.
