SI CHRISTCHURCH
Est. 1949
SI of Christchurch supports local projects and aims to meet the requirements of our community in need targeting Women and Children. We work in kind through service and raise funds, this also extends to our global commitment to SI.
Our long standing association with the development of the Youth hub in Christchurch is ongoing and has broken ground. We aim to bring in Speakers that are relevant to our projects or provide education to the members on the needs of our Community
Regular events are our Lyttleton Stall to raise funds for Women's Refuge Dignity packs, the National Project and our Westburn Music Scholarship to a deserving recipient as nominated by Westburn School Music Programme annually. The dignity packs are for women who arrive at the shelter usually with no personal effects. We provide service for Kai for the Community, providing food and serving the homeless.
In the past year we completed a long relationship with Riding for the Disabled, supporting them with many Fundraisers. We support the Betty Loughhead Soroptimist Scholarship Trust. We always display our Banner at events and answer any queries that are made.
The Youth hub, This is a long standing project with the Club assisting this project from the outset as youth 198, the Korowai Project and its aim to support those young teenagers who have no community support through health, legal and accommodation services.
