Soroptimist International of Tauranga: 
Toilet Bags for Women's Refuge 

Soroptimist International of Tauranga is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of women facing challenging circumstances. Each year, members come together to put together toiletry bags filled with essentials for women in need. This initiative supports the Women’s Refuge.

A Legacy of Support

The club has a deep-rooted association with the Women’s Refuge, with three members having served on the original establishment board. This connection motivates the club to continue to support the refuge and the women they serve.

Collaborative Giving

At every meeting, members contribute toiletries, ensuring a steady supply for our impactful project. Additionally, the club is grateful for the generosity of their community, receiving donations, including support from local dentists. This collaborative effort strengthens their ability to make a meaningful impact. 

Crafting Care with Compassion

One of the club’s members channels her sewing skills to craft beautiful and practical toiletry bags. These bags, filled with essential items like shampoos and toothpaste, provide a complete set of necessities for each recipient. We believe that these small gestures of care can make a significant difference in the lives of women in distress.

A Helping Hand in Difficult Times

Recognising the urgency of the situation for women in violent circumstances, this initiative aims to provide support when it is needed most. Many women arrive at the refuge without the time or means to collect personal belongings. These toiletry bags offer practical assistance during challenging times.
