Soroptimist International and the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)

About the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)
Established by the United Nations in 1946, the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) stands as the primary global intergovernmental body dedicated to advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women. Guided by its mandate, CSW plays a pivotal role in drafting recommendations and reports to the Council, monitoring the implementation of measures for the advancement of women, and identifying issues affecting gender equality.
CSW takes a leading role in monitoring and reviewing progress and challenges in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Additionally, it plays a crucial part in mainstreaming a gender perspective in UN activities.
Every year the SI International President leads a Soroptimist delegation at CSW, New York.
